IB Mathematics SL - IB Maths SL/HL Coaching in Ghaziabad By studying DP physics students should become aware of how scientists work and communicate with each other. While the scientific method may take on a wide variety of forms, it is the emphasis on a practical approach through experimental work that characterizes the subject. Teachers provide students with opportunities to develop manipulative skills, design investigations, collect data, analyse results and evaluate and communicate their findings. The IB DP Physics standard level (SL) course contains eight main topics (Duration 95 Hours), an optional topic (Duration 15 Hours) and a practical scheme of work (Duration 40 Hours). The assessment model of physics SL consists of three papers. Paper 1 is a 45 minutes exam which contains 30 multiple-choice questions, weighing 20% of the final grade. Paper 2 is a 1.25 hours exam which contains short-answer and extended-response questions (core), weighing 40% of the final grade. Paper 3 is an hour exam which contains data and practical-based questions, plus short-answer and extended-response questions based on optional topics; weighing 20% of the final grade. The individual investigation is a write up of six to twelve pages (10 Hours duration) weighing 20% of the final grade. The IB DP Physics higher level (HL) course contains eight core topics (Duration 95 Hours), four additional higher level (AHL) topics (Duration 60 Hours), one optional topic (Duration 25 Hours) and a practical scheme of work (Duration 60 Hours). The assessment model of physics HL consists of three papers. Paper 1 is an hour exam which contains 40 multiple-choice questions weighing 20% of the final grade. Paper 2 is a 2.25 hours exam which contains short-answer and extended-response questions (core & AHL) weighing 36% of the final grade. Paper 3 is 1.25 hours exam which contains data-and-practical-based questions plus short-answer and extended-response questions based on the optional topics; weighing 24% of the final grade. The internal assessment is of 10 hours duration. The individual investigation is a six to twelve pages write up (10 Hours Duration) weighing 20% of the final grade.
